Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Fleet Manager to join our team. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, operation, and management of our fleet of service and heavy vehicles along with heavy and shop equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and meet safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial vehicle, heavy truck and equipment maintenance and repair and inventory controls.
Duties:
- Manage and maintain a fleet of vehicles and equipment, including tractors, trailers, and heavy equipment, to ensure they are in good working condition and meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Take in all repair orders and dispatch routine maintenance and repair tasks to in field and shop mechanics.
- Inventory controls and tracking inventory by software.
- Ordering of all parts and shop supplies, tracking parts received, returned and credits.
- Develop and implement a fleet maintenance schedule to ensure that all vehicles and equipment are properly serviced and maintained. Tracking and scheduling of inspections and renewals, including overweight, overwidth permit renewals, along with IFTA records.
- Coordinate with drivers and other team members to ensure that vehicles and equipment are properly maintained and are available when needed.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest fleet management technologies and best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of fleet maintenance and repair activities.
- Tenna tracking and daily driving report records.
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Fleet Manager or in a similar role.
- Experience with heavy equipment operation and forklift maintenance.
- Experience with Caterpillar equipment is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, efficiently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
