Perform various degrees of accounting related research and analysis. Additionally, this role will provide support to accounting management in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements. The staff account will have many primary job related responsibilities while serving as a backup to other team members. Staff accountants are asked to provide support for questions and assistance to accounting specialists within the department.
The Staff Accountant may be trained on any of the following tasks. These may be primary or secondary responsibilities:
Aid in the preparation of consolidated financial statements through gathering, analyzing and reconciling information from other departments and the accounting system.
Maintains and balances a series of accounts through journal entry analysis and reconciliation on a daily, weekly, monthly or annual basis.
Submit ATM/ITM cash orders
Perform dispute resolution for ATM/ITM related events.
Has an understanding of the CUSO AP and Accounting process.
Assists in the proper expense allocation of all overseas related accounts payable entries.
Prepares and files form FR 2900 weekly with FRB in accordance with Regulation D for reserve requirements
Performs the reimbursement of all approved employee expenses.
Reviews and verifies all Treasury General Account Deposit Confirmations and Adjustments
Reconciles daily shared branching activities, to include, but not limited to: balancing shared branching GL’s with bank activity, processing adjustments, assessing risk associated with large dollar check deposits, researching transactions for CTR filing and potential structuring.
Performs In-house payroll exception processing and clearance of related items.
Daily F&T code review for proper inclusion within income related accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Provides accounting support, analysis and research on an ongoing basis.
Maintain job knowledge through participation in educational opportunities, professional publications, personal networks and professional organizations.
Answers telephones and assume responsibilities generated by calls.
Assists with other department responsibilities as necessary.
Maintain confidentiality regarding credit union policies and procedures, member financial data, personal information, and work-related events.
Provide quality support and maintain a professional relationship with peers, management, other staff, and members through cooperation, mutual trust and respect.
Perform other duties and tasks as required.

Must possess critical thinking skills and have the ability to articulate clearly to co-workers and management.
Strong technical ability relative to accounting related issues.
Must be able to balance multiple tasks and workloads.
Possess the ability to work independently or within a team environment as the job entails.
Meet tight deadlines (especially during the month end close process) and be flexible to work as needed to get tasks accomplished.
Ability to work in a sedentary environment.
Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience is required.
PC literacy is required, including Excel and MS Word expertise
