DevOps Service Delivery Architect (REMOTE) - Professional Services

Rackspace is seeking a DevOps Service Delivery Architect to join our Professional Services department full time in one of our offices or in a Remote Work From Home position in the USA.

Works with external customers, internal support and build teams to determine how best to leverage tools and techniques involving infrastructure as code, configuration management and other DevOps-type techniques to improve delivery quality, speed and experience.
Partners with SDM, Delivery teams and Support to find opportunities to reduce manual changes needed to complete deployments
Supports Professional Services engagements with ‘engineering muscle’ to help our customers design systems that are purpose-built and well suited to their target infrastructure
Seeks to build and document reusable, repeatable toolsets, components and modules for future use with other clients where possible
Coordinates and consults with SAs and Sales teams to further streamline and detail out the build, deploy and management process for scoping and design of new and updated systems being deployed into the ecosystem.
Travels up to 40% to meet with clients

Experience handling large scale, multi-tenant systems—ideally in a setting with many multiple customers with multi-tenant systems
Significant number of different technologies on resume with ‘more than beginner’ depth with several technologies (20% or more) at Sr. to Expert level
Successful history of Developing infrastructure, configuration and deployment automation at large scale/high complexity
Significant experience managing, diagnosing and debugging matrixed problems across multiple disciplines (app, infrastructure, db, etc.)
Understands nuances between common technologies leveraged in Automation/DevOps world such as Configuration Management: Ansible vs. Puppet vs. Chef vs. Saltstack, etc. AND AWS vs Azure vs. Google vs. VMWare
Can talk through at a decent level of depth on how to build out a module/cookbook/role in their configuration management tool of choice including: Requirements/Scope, Parameterization, Code Structure, Testing, Deployment usage within a larger set of modules
Experience with managing operating systems - Windows, RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, ect.
Strong plus: high marks related to client-facing engagements/touch points

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related technical field and 7+ years experience.
Deep knowledge of IaaS for one or more platform(s) - AWS (preferred), Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or VMWare.
Strong understanding of infrastructure automation tooling (terraform, cloud formation, etc.).
Strong understanding of application deployment and configuration processes.
Prior experience in a software development/architect role.
Comfortable re-architecting and refactoring customer applications as need to take advantage of cloud and container capabilities.’

Due to the 24X7 operations of the business, must be able to work a flexible work schedule, may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
