THE ROLE:

SEMI is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the financial accounting, budgeting/analysis, financial and budget planning system maintenance for a global trade association. The position also has responsibility for reviewing, overseeing the financial reporting from overseas offices, working with various budget managers, and ensuring compliance to group policies and guidelines. This position is based in the SEMI Milpitas office and will report directly to the Corporate Controller.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for month-end close of assigned subsidiaries and tasks including (but not limited to) inter-company activities and reconciliation, preparation of journal entries, investment accounting, month-end elimination, entries and account reconciliations, and fixed assets accounting
  • Ensures the accurate compilation, analysis, and reporting of accounting data and revenue
  • Act as a Finance advocate with assigned business units stakeholders:
  • Partner with Budget Manager to assist in the development of revenue, expense and headcount projections during Annual Budget, Quarterly Forecast, and Long Range Plan cycles
  • Review business units/departmental Actuals monthly performance vs budget/forecast, and key performance metrics
  • Prepare financial packages and analysis during quarterly forecasts, annual budget cycle and year end
  • Assists with annual financial audit and tax filing activities
  • Research technical accounting issues and best practices and provide recommendations and lead implementation efforts as appropriate
  • Assist with other projects/duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE OR PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor degree in accounting/finance
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum four years of relevant accounting with emphasis on the general ledger and financial analysis
  • 2-3 years of audit experience with established CPA firm
  • Experience with Adaptive Insights and NetSuite is highly desirable
  • Proficient in Excel (vlook up, pivot table, index, modeling skills). Good knowledge of Word and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of accounting for foreign currency transactions including exchange gain/loss and cumulative translation adjustments
  • Knowledge of non-profit and government grant accounting (uniform guidance) will be a plus
