The George Washington University (GW) Libraries and Academic Innovation (LAI) is searching for a Senior Audiovisual (AV) Technician to provide experienced technical support and installation for varied equipment and distance learning instruction, typically including audiovisual (AV), video teleconferencing (VTC) and PC systems, using multiple platforms and operating systems. This role typically provides more complex audio visual services, including but not limited to, setting up technical, video, and computer equipment, adjusting lights and performing checks for sound requirements, and installing and connecting the equipment needed for events. This position provides guidance and recommends solutions based on the technology requirements and limitations, budget, client requirements, and the target audience. This role may lead or provide direction to others on the team, and may operate controlled and non-controlled AV systems, VTC systems, and portable AV systems, and may repair complex PC and AV hardware issues. This position also provides customer service and serves as an escalation point, and conducts one-one-one and small class training on classroom technology operations.

Reporting to the Manager, IT Service Delivery, the Senior Audiovisual Technician works within the Division’s Academic Technologies team. The Senior AV Technician is responsible for:
Training front-line and intermediate level AV technicians on AV best practices and troubleshooting techniques.
Performing advanced level service functions, as needed, to maintain full operational status of contract and classroom technology. This includes evaluating issues escalated from front-line and intermediate support personnel, replacing AV equipment, conducting signal flow analysis, testing cables, testing AV systems, documenting system changes and repairing classroom technology hardware.
Performing classroom technology support tasks, including dispatch support, classroom event support, classroom maintenance, technology remote monitoring, customer training (one-on-one and small group), return merchandise authorization (RMA), incident management, and problem management.
Applying configuration and firmware updates to AV systems, troubleshooting and debugging AV control systems and deploying AV control files.
Operating and troubleshooting multiple IT platforms (mobile and non-mobile) and operating systems.
Registering, configuring and monitoring audiovisual and IT systems using remote management and monitoring tools.
Reviewing, analyzing and recommending classroom technology improvement opportunities, including gathering customer feedback, performing site surveys, quality assurance analysis and problem management analysis.
Coordinating with functional managers and team leads for specific technical duties during AV installation projects.
Collaborating with the engineering team on design approval and improvements
This position is based at the GW Virginia Science and Technology Campus (VSTC) in Ashburn, Virginia and will require occasional travel to the Foggy Bottom Campus (FBC) in Washington, DC. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Working competency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.

Experience managing small projects and reporting project/task status and problems to upline management.

Experience with installation and configuration of AV and/or IT systems.
Experience with training front line technicians.
Course certification for Crestron products.
Knowledge of network-based troubleshooting.
CompTIA Network+ certified.
AVIXA CTS-I certified.
