We are looking to hire a SLP who is experienced in home care and able to deliver high quality in-home patient care in the surrounding areas in the Detroit area:

Responsibilities and Duties

The Contingent Speech Therapist directs, supervises, evaluates, and provides speech therapy services to our patients as prescribed by the attending physician and also:

  • Assesses, plans, and implements rehabilitation services for speech, language and/or swallowing disorders
  • Provides evaluation of speech and language abilities through diagnostic procedures, establishes goals, and estimates prognosis for recovering
  • Records and reports the client's progress in treatment and any change in patient's condition to the physician
  • Instructs caregivers and members of the health care team in methods of assisting the patient in improving communication skills
  • Re-evaluates patient's progress and the established rehabilitation program as needed
  • Assists in making appropriate referrals to outside audiology speech clinics or other community services as indicated
  • Assists in the development and revision of physician's Plan of Care
  • Submits documentation in a timely manner, as required by Agency policy
  • Instructs, teaches, and supervises the family in the patient's total speech therapy program
  • Provides liaison contact and follow-up with other community agencies
  • Participates in in-service education and staff meetings, as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Therapy Supervisor or Director of Clinical Services

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of providing therapy care
  • Master's Degree from a speech and hearing program certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association to practice in the State of Michigan
  • Must have at least one year of supervised post-certification experience in an institutional setting
  • Kinnser training preferred
  • Current license in good standing, issued by the State of Michigan, if applicable
  • CPR certification required
  • Current Michigan driver’s license and/or reliable transportation with proof of automobile insurance
