Property Accountant


Property Accountant needed for dynamic, growing Rye-based real estate investment firm. This is an amazing opportunity to join a fun, motivated and hard-working accounting team and report directly to the company's Controller.

Responsibilities include:
Prepare monthly/quarterly financial reporting and electronic reporting for investors and lenders.
Prepare bank reconciliations for all buildings bank accounts and reserve accounts, month-end closing.
Prepare monthly journal entries and transaction analysis.
Set up and maintain schedules including depreciation, amortization, building improvements, lender escrows, accruals and pre-paid schedules.
Review Accounts Receivable process - monitor cash receipts, review tenant billings, recurring charges and billing adjustments, including deposits and perform tenant ledger reconciliations.
Set up and maintain reserves for tenant bad debt.
Process Accounts Payable - review invoice coding and approvals, and ensure proper audit trail is in place.
Maintain property work papers for all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
Prepare Year-end audit work papers including analysis of all general ledger accounts.
Prepare annual CAM reconciliation and estimates.
Assist with annual budget preparation - with the assistance of property management compile key assumptions and capital budget information, maintain lease level budgeting for all tenants, review and enter budget information into the accounting system, process estimates for miscellaneous income and specialty leasing.
Assist Controller in special projects.
Participate in any other duties which from time to time that may be required to successfully operate both NY and Chicago offices.

Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferred) or finance.
CPA or pursuit of CPA designation a plus.
3+ years of property accounting , preferably in a multi-family environment.
Strong attention to detail and a passion for accuracy.
Strong organizational and problem-solving and communication skills is key.
Proficiency in Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks or similar property management/accounting software.
Base salary of $60,000+ based on experience.
