Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a User Interface interaction researcher. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

Leads the development of individual product/system components, and provides context for their interaction
Creates, evaluates, and modifies prototypes, user personas, operational scenarios, and process maps to support product and system development, with emphasis on operational context, interaction, physical manipulation, and task analysis
Develops product/system design concepts and implementation specifications, providing context on usability considerations
Develops and applies usability design principles in the investigation of technical problems
Produces specifications describing product/system requirements, based on user input and operational analysis
Identifies creative alternatives when presented with barriers to progress
Works to optimize tasks, resources, and deliverables in support of multiple projects/programs
Assigned difficult technical challenges within domain of expertise, and introduced to challenges outside domain of expertise
Contributes as an expert to proposal development efforts
Participates in the development of technical and teaming strategies, creative vision, and product concepts on one or more programs
Senior-level creative contributor
Requires little oversight from supervisor, demonstrates mature decision-making capabilities
Participates as senior/lead member of project team on one or more challenging projects/programs

Experience with Agile devlopment teams
Learns, and applies advanced/complex principles, theories and concepts of research and/or design
Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written
Proficient presentation skills and public speaking
Proficient ability to apply knowledge effectively in a team environment
Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback
Solid understanding of company culture, regulations, policies and requirements
Identifies and owns project and program interdependencies

Department of Defense security clearance is not required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
