The Sales Manager is responsible for the sales growth and activity within WestRock’s Automated Packaging Systems Division. This position has extensive travel, and is based out of your home office, preferably along the Eastern Seaboard.
The Sales Manager has direct, hands-on responsibility for sales activity in their assigned region working with the business unit to support the enterprise system (Corrugated/Folding/Victory Packaging).
The Sales Manager is responsible for understanding where the business unit or region is relative to their equipment growth targets; as well as their first year and second year differentiated sales and Enterprise sales progress. This information is used by the Sales Manager to determine the management of the pipeline process. The Sales Manager reports to Automated Packaging Systems Director of Sales.
How you will impact WestRock:
Supervise and coach Automated Packaging Solutions Equipment Specialists and other sales team members within WestRock Enterprise (Corrugated/Folding Carton/Victory Packaging), with the objective of achieving budgeted revenue and margin, or better.
Drive goals of exceeding regional equipment sales and profit through new account project development within targeted market segments, growth in existing accounts, continuous margin improvement plans
Maintain a sales pipeline to meet budgeted volume growth objectives.
Ensure target accounts match with the margin, capacity, and equipment requirements
Focused effort on closing the highest potential, “Hot” and Game Changer accounts
Use your broad market knowledge of automated packaging machinery, distribution, corrugated packaging, folding carton, technical savvy, and consumer insights to enhance the strength of our customers’ brands
Promote diversified recruiting, hiring, training and managing of equipment specialists in the assigned sales region
Responsible for approving pricing within the appropriate levels
Ensures that contract Agreements are in place and adhered to for all accounts within assigned region
Assists in management of credit application procedure of new and existing customers, aged payments ensuring zero controllable write-offs for APS internally financed equipment.
Assists with establishing budget for sales, margin, and expenses within assigned region
Ensures that appropriate policy and procedures are followed
Reviews and understands annual budget, forecasts, and monthly financial summaries
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor’s Degree (Business or related field preferred)
Minimum 5 years of related work experience with 1-3 years in a leadership role preferred
Broad understanding of different types of packaging and packaging equipment capabilities and solutions relative to packaging industry
Previous business-to-business sales experience in a manufacturing/service industry with supervisory, management or coaching responsibility
Demonstrated ability to drive new business development
Desire to drive sales and lead a sales team
Experience selling/presenting to senior management and key decision makers
Previous budgetary/P&L experience preferred
Solution/concept sales experience preferred to product sales
Ability to provide clarity to complex problems and develop long term packaging solutions
Proficient in MS Office, Salesforce (or similar CRM)
Ability to travel 80%, regionally and within the US
