Job Summary

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for developing and maintaining positive, therapeutic relationships with our clients while effectively implementing client programs. All of our clients are individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The DSP will work with clients in the group home and ensure that programs are implemented properly to meet the individual goals of the person(s) served. The DSP will carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, applicable to federal, state, local standards, guidelines, and regulations as directed by the Lead Staff and Program Manager. The Direct Support Professional must have a compatible philosophy including:

  • a commitment to enhancing the rights of clients

We are looking for staff that have experience working with clients with dual diagnosis.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Act as a positive influence on the clients, and develop and maintain professionally appropriate, therapeutic relationships with each client and their family
  • Abide by the client’s Community Support Plan and all other written support plans
  • Complete all required documentation on the client, including but not limited to daily log notes, outcome data sheets, health progress notes, incident/accident reports, daily checklists and medication administration records (if applicable)
  • Maintain clean and sanitary environments for our clients
  • Act as a mandated reporter under the Vulnerable Adults Act and the Maltreatment of Minors Act
  • Abide by MN Statute 245D
  • Know, respect and practice Consumer Rights
  • Complete all required and mandatory orientation and trainings
  • Act as a participating and positive member of the client’s Interdisciplinary Team
  • Transport clients in own vehicle, which must be in safe and working order
  • Perform other job duties as required

Working Environment

  • Flexible hours including split shifts or varied hours (mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends) depending on the needs of the clients
  • Regular travel in the community - mileage reimbursement included
  • Work in a variety of settings inside or outside the office/client home and throughout the community
  • Sit, stand, walk, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours
  • Subject to frequent problem-solving situations
  • Regular contact with clients, staff, family members and the general public
  • May be subject to physically aggressive and/or emotionally upset clients
  • Sites may vary as Key 360 Support Services will provide services to clients in counties including but not limited to Scott County, Dakota County, Carver County, and Hennepin County.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of DHS background study
  • Valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance
  • Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) or driving record
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the work day
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Willingness to take initiative and adapt to circumstances

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $16.00 to $18.00 /hour
