McCaffery Interests, Inc is seeks a hands on Controller to perform the traditional functions of a controller with a heavy emphasis on financial planning and analysis. The right candidate will be a true business partner and be actively connected with executive management to identify opportunities for profit improvement and efficiency gains. Full oversight of accounting staff and financial statement preparation are also vital responsibilities within this role. A can-do attitude, leadership and outstanding communication skills also essential for success in this role. This position reports to the CFO.

MUST HAVE PREVIOUS REAL ESTATE EXPERIENCE TO BE CONSIDERED

Responsibilities:

The Controller role will have responsibility for all accounting activities related to the day to day operation of both commercial and residential properties. In addition, this role may also handle some corporate accounting functions as well.

Duties include but are not limited to:

v Oversee and maintain accounting and financial reporting function for Commercial and Residential properties, including monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes

v Supervision of the Accounting Staff to include project accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable

v Preparing and/or reviewing the monthly property financial statements which includes preparing and entering journal entries

v Preparing and/or Supervising in the Monthly Draw Process

v Assist in full cycle accounting for property/properties if need be

v Ensuring that billings are properly executed and done in a timely manner

v Working with lease administration to ensure leases are entered in the system

v Assisting the Property Managers in the property Annual Budget process and forecasting

v Reviewing of checks for signature

v Working with CFO to review and establish accounting policies and procedures to ensure efficiencies in the accounting department

v Preparing and/or reviewing work papers for the year end audit/tax season

v Working closely with the audit/tax firm during the year end

v Preparing the company payroll and working with the outside payroll service to ensure proper execution

v Performance Improvement -- Identification and recommendations for financial performance improvement and operating efficiency gains.

v Perform special projects, as required, to assist the department and the Company in achieving its goals and objectives.

Requirements:

· Proficient in Accounting Systems preferably Yardi and MRI

· Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting or Finance

· 7+ years of Accounting Experience in Real Estate

· CPA Preferred
