MATI Energy is one of the fastest growing brand names in the consumer beverage space. We started several years ago in a Duke University dorm room using tea leaves, fruit juice and a kitchen pot. Today MATI has an avid consumer following in the Triangle area of North Carolina, Nashville and other parts of the southeastern United States, including nearly 30 Whole Foods Market locations, with more rapid growth soon to come online and in retail.
The Atlanta Sales Manager will develop our high growth energy drink business in Atlanta. A successful candidate will be an experienced sales leader, experienced in the beverage industry, with high aspirations and a desire to join a start-up business.
The Atlanta Sales Manager will be responsible for building and managing the sales effort in his (or her) region for MATI Energy. He (she) will open new accounts, develop relationships, and partner with local distributors to achieve sales objectives. The Director must be willing to roll up his (her) sleeves to get out in the field, as well as have the capacity to set larger policies/targets and manage growth into new accounts. He (or she) will need to be able to find, hire, train and work with brand ambassadors to maximize our growth both from penetration perspective.
The position requires a self- motivated, organized, and energetic individual with an interest in personally growing and learning quickly to adapt to our changing business needs. The Atlanta Sales Manager will also work with our National Accounts Manager to grow our exposure to and/or expand our presence in cross-territory accounts, as well as to plan promotions in those accounts.
Specifically, the Atlanta Sales Manager will:
Set ambitious sales region P&L budget goals in conjunction with senior management and work with regional distributors to achieve (or exceed) these goals.
Help identify and close distributor relationships in region with CEO, senior management.
Open new local accounts on own and in partnership with distributors. Support regional distributors to grow the territory by identifying new opportunities.
Call on existing accounts on an ongoing basis to develop relationship with goals to:
Manage displays; ensure in-stock
Advocate for additional cold space or shelf space
Advocate for case stacks, in store promo’s, etc.
Educate existing retail accounts, distributor reps, and customers regarding:
Value proposition of product
MATI story and brand
Incentives, display programs, and marketing initiatives
Identify, schedule, staff, and provide product to high-potential local events.
Build new cross-territory sales leads and accounts.
Recommend new product ideas based on customer feedback.
Manage profitability and pricing strategies with senior management.
Applicants must have:
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree
3-4+ years of Sales/Marketing experience, preferably in Beverage industry
Prior experience launching, building and managing a region for a branded product, preferably in Beverage industry
Decision-orientation paired with good judgment, and an ability to self-manage tempered by a willingness to reach out for help when needed
An interest in health, functional foods and brand-oriented products
Be able to lift 60 pounds
Be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time, up to eight (8) hours
Ability to manage a sales budget and provide weekly reporting on performance
Ability to formulate account strategies and execute against them
Ability to work remotely and cooperatively with others across the organization
Must have valid driver's license (and unless NY, vehicle to travel and transport promotional merchandise between accounts within assigned territory)
