Job Summary

Answers
the telephone in a courteous manner and directs calls to the appropriate
destination; records accurate and complete messages when necessary; receives
and receipts deliveries and donations; greets and announces visitors and
clients; provides general information about The Salvation Army's operations and
services; performs general clerical duties for Area Command and clerical duties
for the accounting department

Administration & Clerical (80%)

Answers the telephone and
transfers calls to the appropriate destination; responds to callers questions
and provides accurate information.

Receives, greets, and
announces visitors in a courteous and tactful manner; provides assistance to
callers and visitors by answering questions and providing instructions and
referrals; screens sales representative soliciting to The Salvation Army and
directs to the appropriate staff.

Receives and prepares receipts
for donations, receive and sign for packages delivered by Federal Express, UPS
or Post Office and notifies the proper individuals.

Opens the mail in the presence
of another staff member. Prepares daily deposit and goes to bank. Keys mail
appeals into Interchange on a daily bases.

Other Responsibilities
(20%)

Provides assistance with
special or seasonal projects such as Christmas, Adopt a Family, Angel Trees,
etc.

Photocopies, send faxes, and staples
documents.

May perform routine clerical
work as needed.

Maintains the neatness and
attractiveness of the reception area. Makes copies of mail appeals and make
deposit, put checks in numerical order, attach backup to returned checks as
instructed by Accountant.

Word processing duties i.e.
preparing file folders, typing prayer lists etc. Keep databases for NLR Corps Sunday School
and seeker current.

Keeps publication display
updated with War Cry, Southern Spirit, program brochures and annual reports. Places
two copies on the end tables in the lobby.

Preforms
other duties as assigned.

Phone system, copy
machine, fax machine and computer.

courteous and tactful manner.

complete messages.

Ability to perform clerical
support work while operating the telephone.

Ability to maintain an
adequate supply of informative materials and/or brochures for distribution to
visitors.

Ability to respond to
emergencies in a calm and effective manner.

and professional image of The Salvation Army

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Education and Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D. required, and any equivalent
combination of training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge,
skill, and abilities.

Physical Requirements

Ability to meet attendance
requirements.

Ability to read, write, and
communicate the English language.

Ability to operate a telephone
system.

Ability to sort documents
alphabetically and numerically.

Ability to perform routine
mathematical computations

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a
normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated
with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and
the like.
