Associate Compliance Specialist

Providence St. Joseph Health is calling an Associate Compliance Specialist PSJH to Covenant Health in Lubbock, TX.

We are seeking an Associate Compliance Specialist to provide compliance and privacy program support to management across Providence St. Joseph Health and its Affiliates in furtherance of our mission and to provide an effective compliance program. This is an entry level compliance position. An Associate Compliance Specialist will work with more senior compliance specialists while developing skills in investigative and research techniques and practices, and certain regulatory, compliance and privacy topics. This position works with highly sensitive information.

Responsibilities are diverse supporting Providence St. Joseph Health and its affiliates, including hospitals, physician clinics, skilled nursing facilities, health plan, medical foundations, educational institutions, child care centers, in-home services, and hospice.

This position includes some overnight travel and routine inter-facility commuting.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

Perform assigned investigations and compliance projects following Risk and Integrity Services practice standards while keeping management well apprised of results and completion status. Investigations and projects will be less complex in nature
Participate, under the direction of a senior or manager, on large, complex, multi-location or system-wide projects or investigations, including work being performed under the direction of legal counsel
Perform research to gain an understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements and risk and control environment related to investigations and other assigned projects
Analyze, under the direction of a senior or manager, investigative results and draft recommendations that will improve controls and mitigate risk to the organization
Monitor assigned open recommendations working closely with client management to assure action plans are completed and risk is mitigated in a timely manner
Support regional and local compliance and privacy committees by taking minutes, tracking action items and maintaining records of committee activity
Provide input to the annual risk assessment and RIS annual plan development
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

Required qualifications for this position include:
A valid driver's license

Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in healthcare, business administration, accounting, finance, management information systems, or related fields of study or equivalent education/experience
2 years compliance or privacy experience OR 2 years of experience in healthcare auditing, finance, accounting, law, or other related field.
Certified in Healthcare Compliance, Healthcare Privacy Compliance, Healthcare Privacy & Security, Compliance & Ethics Professional, CPA or Certified Internal Auditor
