Job Title: Animal Caretaker

Compensation: Hourly Rate (depending upon qualifications)

Job Summary: The individual in this position will provide daily care to the animals to include cleaning animal living areas such as kennels, cages, etc. This will include feeding and administration of medications under supervision of the animal care manager. The individual will interact with the public to provide information about the animals and assist them with their visitation with our animals.

General Work and Schedule Requirements: The individual is expected to routinely work as scheduled. This position will require weekend and holiday work.

Supervision: The position shall be supervised directly by the Animal Care Manager under the overall direction of the Executive Director.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

∙ Daily cleaning of assigned areas which would include but not limited to dog kennels and cat

cages and outside exercise areas

∙ Notify Animal Care Manager of any signs of change in animal behavior or health

∙ May be assigned general cleaning of office area, foyer, restrooms

∙ Daily laundry and dishwashing duties

∙ Daily feeding, watering, and restocking of supplies used to clean and feed.

∙ Assist in taking photos of animals

∙ Assist patrons in taking animals out of cages and kennels for walking and socialization.

∙ Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

∙ Exceptional interpersonal customer service/communication skills

∙ Experience dealing with public in person and on the phone in a courteous and professional

manner in sometimes difficult or stressful situations

∙ Must be able to routinely lift minimum of 50 lbs. and handle animals with leash with weights

up to 100 lbs.

∙ Self-starter, detail oriented, organized, and able to work with little supervision

∙ Professional appearance with ability to remain calm in stressful situations

∙ Ability to handle animals in a humane and caring manner including animals that may be

injured

∙ Must maintain reliable transportation

∙ Capable of walking, standing, lifting to move animals and equipment and standing for up to

eight hours a day in an animal care environment
