Engineer III- Resident
ZF Axle Drives Marysville, LLC
Represents axle production engineering and supports all business functions in order to ensure that products are manufactured to design intent and do meet the specified performance metrics. Evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria in working with all business functions to continuously improve the quality and cost level of the products. Local key representative of product engineering to customers and suppliers.
Handles product engineering tasks at the manufacturing plant level.
Oversees communication between the plant and Design Engineering.
Represent ZF Engineering at customers and provide support for solutions to product related problems.
Dispose Manufacturing Deviations related to process variations and/or product deviations to engineering specifications.
Ensure proper technical documentation pursuant to TS-16949 procedures and requirements in the different ZF systems (SAP, Axalant, CIS, Tech Library, myZF, MS Sharepoint, etc.)
Support development and maintenance of assembly FMEA's.
Support rejects review process related to root cause analysis of failure and corrective actions.
Develops and maintains trouble shooting / lessons learned guidelines for assembly and test bench failures.
Provides product training to ZF Marysville personnel.
Supports 0-hour and warranty review process related to root cause analysis of failure and corrective actions.
Supports purchasing to develop a supply base according to ZF requirements.
Supports engineering and purchasing in the realization of cost reduction programs and participates in these programs.
Supports the global BU, and coordinates the plant cross-functional teams, for new and next generation product launches, during the complete Product Development Process, including but not limited to selection of supply base, quality planning, prototype and pre-production builds.
Coordination and follow-up of all activities and projects assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Represents ZF Engineering at VA/VE meetings at customers.
Performs related tasks as needed.
Incumbent is responsible for reaching objectives.
Engineering Change Implementation and Compliance with ZFIM quality management system.
Accurate and effective Manufacturing System documentation.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
Experience Requirements: 5 - 6 years experience with strong functional/product knowledge with the ability to train others.
TS16949 and ISO 14001 Awareness Training.
Knowledge of 5S and Six Sigma problem-solving methodology.
Familiarity with plant operations, such as machining, assembly and/or heat treatment.
Experience in Automotive industry.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Organizational and project management abilities.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Ability to influence and engage at multiple levels within internal and external organizations.
Good verbal and written communication skills. Basic English language competency required.
Ability/willingness to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 25%).
SAP experience highly recommended and preferred.
Fluent German Language.
Physical demands and work environment: This position is required to do extensive walking through factory environment production areas. Required to frequent lift and/or carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 lbs. Must be able to climb, kneel, pull, push, carry, twist, bend, forward reach and reach above shoulder level on an occasion. Required to frequently sit, stoop and stand continuously. Required to use
fine and gross motor skills, firm hand gripping and repetition to handle physical parts. Specific vision
abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Must be able to perceive the nature of sounds at normal range; includes the ability to
receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound.
Environmental exposures may include dust, fumes, odors, loud noises and chemicals.
