Under the supervision of the Sr. Health and Wellness Director and consistent with the Christian mission to the YMCA, this position is responsible for the safety and Education and over all effectiveness of the Culinary Program, including recruiting participants and volunteers, seek funding through grants, and special events.

SKILLS/QUALIFACATIONS

This position requires an individual with enthusiastic personality who can develop harmonious relationships with staff, members, volunteers and community leaders. He/She must present a professional image and have exceptional interpersonal skills. As such, the coord./director is expected to strive to be a person who recognizes the value dimension of situations. The director must have knowledge required for teaching youth and adults in culinary arts. This includes education and personal experience.

Must hold a BA/BS
At least two years of teaching experience preferred but not required
Must complete all trainings/certifications required in the Quality Standards of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte within the specified timeframe.
Good analytical skills.
Have grant writing skills or knowledge.
Imaginative and resourceful, and able to work independently
Computer literate and knowledgeable about audio and visual technology
Excellent oral and written communications
Media savvy
Excellent personnel, fiscal management, and entrepreneurial skills.
Oversees the production of all marketing materials, advertising, and public relations for Culinary Programming

In addition, candidate must be able to pull/push 50 pounds and carry 100 pounds.

PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES

Hire, terminate, train and schedule staff.
Following YMCA personal polices and procedure
Oversee planning, implementation and scheduling for classes and exhibits, shows, teach culinary classes etc.
Follow facility operational guidelines
Drive /Member Involvement initiatives as directed
Attend task force, community meetings, program, PMT, and leadership meetings as assigned
Research and write grants to secure funding for the culinary program.

EFFECT ON END RESULT:
The Incumbent’s performance should have a positive impact on the growth and development of the Culinary Arts Program and able to win trust and confidence of the culinary community as well as parents and children in the neighborhoods in the Ballantyne Community.
