POSITION SUMMARY
Assist in installation, configuration, and support an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet system or a segment of a network system. Assists in maintaining network hardware and software. Monitors network to ensure network availability to all system users and performs necessary maintenance to support network availability. Participates in security, audit, and compliance activities.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
Assist in maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.
Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
Configure, monitor, and maintain email applications or virus protection software.
Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems.
Research new technologies by attending seminars, reading trade articles, or taking classes, and implement or recommend the implementation of new technologies.
Analyze equipment performance records to determine the need for repair or replacement.
Implement and provide technical support for voice services and equipment, such as private branch exchange, voice mail system, and telecom system.
Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
Train people in computer system use.
Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records.
Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records.
Assist with audit and compliance duties for government audits.
Communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
Work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Routinely audit hardware and software to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, procedures, and configuration guidelines.
Understanding of change and problem management processes and tools and awareness of audit and complaince aspects of data processing.
Assist in building servers and new system implementations.
Provide back up support to help desk when needed.
Assist in establishing performance metrics and measurements and reporting of established metrics.
May be required to participate in HHS committees.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education : Bachelor's Degree preferred (four year college or university) or three to seven years’ experience required.
Experience : Three to seven years related experience required.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Server 2008/2012, SQL, Exchange 2010, Windows 10, Windows 7, SharePoint, Sonicwall firewalls, VMware Virtual environments
Certificates & Licenses: Valid State Issued Driver’s License
Additional skills preferred: Demonstrated ability to work with a team of colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
