The Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses (“CEB”) are wholly owned subsidiaries of Consolidated Edison, Inc. (“CEI”). The CEBs develop, own and operate renewable energy projects and provide energy services to wholesale, commercial and government customers throughout the United States.
The Gas Scheduler will be responsible for economically scheduling gas for generating, storage, and pipeline assets. The scheduler may also be asked to monitor interstate pipeline electronic bulletin boards for storage and capacity being released. The scheduler will be responsible for building and maintaining economic excel models.
Natural Gas Scheduling- schedule and balance on a daily basis interstate pipelines, LDCs, and storage operators primarily in the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions. Responsible for ensuring that all scheduling functions related to the transportation of natural gas (i.e. nominations, balancing, volume verification, etc.) take place in an accurate and timely manner.
Monitor Natural Gas flows – schedule, balance and path all physical natural gas flows in the internal operations system to meet natural gas accounting/billing requirements and internal controls. Maintain and improve spreadsheets to manage contractual movements of natural gas flows. Resolve all differences in a timely manner to limit financial exposure.
Knowledge of Pipelines – know the operations of the pipeline(s) and LDC(s); including but not limited to constraints, interconnects, balancing rules, discount opportunities, OBA’s, cash-out and cash-in rates, seasonal rates, etc. Monitor future pipeline expansions.
Strategy – develop and implement plans to execute short/long term pipeline capacity releases. Provide traders information on short term opportunities as a result of pipeline constraints and operations.
Communications – develop/maintain trusted partnerships with all parties in the supply chain including third party schedulers, traders, pipeline representatives and internal personnel. Inform traders of daily positions in order to balance pipeline positions
Four year business or technical degree preferred.
Other college degree with relevant work experience considered
Physical Natural Gas experience would be a plus but not necessary
Power experience would be a plus
Good time management/adherence to deadlines
Good technical, analytical and communication skills
Keen attention to detail
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to follow procedures
Prior negotiation experience preferred
Demonstrated proficiency in spreadsheet development (Excel/Access)
Ability to manage many simultaneous activities
Will be required to participate in a weekend and off-hour on call rotation
