The Social Media Senior Specialist develops, implements and measures strategies that support OHSU’s marketing and communications goals and advance the OHSU brand and reputation. The incumbent works collaboratively to develop and execute social media campaigns and is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the success of social media efforts. The Senior Specialist is responsible for managing online communities across a variety of channels, creating original content and eliciting original content from multiple sources, and ensuring consistent, effective presentation of messages that advance the OHSU brand.
The Senior Specialist will have primary responsibility for managing at least one of the organization’s social communities to advance business objectives or support philanthropic campaigns, playing a major role in revenue generation through strategic marketing. This is an integral role in protecting OHSU in the social spaces and will independently defuse crisis but autonomously interact with the public.
Function/Duties of Position:
Content Creation and Community Management:
- Working independently, research, write/ record and edit/produce messages related to priorities in key centers of emphasis. Use AP and OHSU style and brand guides to develop effective communications that are consistent with department and institutional goals. Monitor social media channels for comments and respond to questions in a timely manner. Assist in development and implementation of social media strategic plans, identifying priorities, goals and tactics.
Monitor and measure results for social media channels:

Measurement may include types of engagement and conversion, as well as community growth and elements of channel integration. Position is responsible for monthly and campaign-based monitoring and reporting using native and third-party tools.
Crisis communications:

Support the Social Media Associate Director in developing and distributing messaging during institutional emergencies or crisis events, and play a lead role in tailoring messages for and distributing messages to key centers of emphasis. Participate in necessary training and committees.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or a related field
Experience:
-
Five years in communications or media relations, including the use of social media
Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):
-
Broad knowledge of current and future trends in social media
- Specific knowledge of and practical experience both using and administering key social media tools (e.g., Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube)
- Familiarity with measuring performance/results using key social media tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience developing social media and communication plans
- Experience with blogging platforms (e.g. Wordpress) and/or other CMS.

Some experience using Google Analytics.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education:

Degree plus appropriate professional certification (e.g., Digital Marketing certificate, Google Analytics certification, etc.)
Experience:

Seven years in communications or media relations; experience in healthcare communications
Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):

Knowledge of trends in use of social media in healthcare
- Experience developing and implementing successful social media campaigns
- Strong experience with CSS and/or HTML

Experience with PPC
- Experience with SEO

Familiarity with email marketing tools
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Photoshop, photo editing, video creation and/or publishing)
Additional Details:
Hybrid: This role will be a combination of telework and on-campus as needed. Work schedule and location are generally within regular business hours, though the role may occasionally be required to staff special events. Most on-campus workstations are shared.
