Under the direction of the medical and nursing staff, the Surgical Technologist (ST) performs duties related to the intra-operative process in accordance with established policies and procedures; anticipate the needs of the patient, surgeon and department; prepares and maintains sterile supplies, instrument, and equipment; adheres to strict aseptic technique and standard precautions; practices ethical and conscientious behavior in regard to aseptic technique.
The minimum requirements are as follows: High school diploma or equivalent education is required. Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications are required. Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification is preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of previous work experience is required. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
