The Software Engineer/Developer, reporting to the Software Director/Manager, is a challenging and exciting role that is heavily engaged in development of the RIS flagship product, the InkCenter refill machine. This product combines patented hardware and processes with innovative software and a touch-based user interface to deliver an unparalleled combination of ease-of-use with high-technology functionality.
The Software Engineer/Developer position requires experience in building and maintaining complete applications. The software ecosystem runs the gamut from python scripting to web-based applications to embedded firmware. The position requires experience working with a team of diverse and skilled software developers to build a complete product. This includes participating in a wide range of abilities spanning numerous aspects of technology and software infrastructure including: machine control, user interface development, remote networking protocols, and business IT/Analytics system development and support. A product-focused mindset and attention to detail are required to ensure that RIS customers have the most reliable and engaging product possible.

This position requires daily attendance at headquarters in Carlsbad, CA. This position does not have relocation assistance, but applicants who intend to move within commuting distance will be considered.
Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Language skills in Spanish, French and/or German a plus.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to utilize computer software to perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word processing software, spreadsheet software, contact management systems, and Microsoft PowerPoint. Fosters a culture of continuous improvement in all areas of technology and instills the principles of this culture in a team.
Bachelor's degree (BS) from a four-year college or university; and 5 to 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
