What you will do:
-
Evaluates the integrity of the test sample before performing the analysis.

Rotates through a minimum of three (3) Lab testing areas, performing laboratory analysis and procedures efficiently, accurately and within allocated time constraints.

Follows all safety standards as required by OSHA.

Monitors test analyses to ensure acceptable levels of analytical performance are maintained.

Resolves technical problems and ensures remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the Laboratory’s established performance specifications. If unable to resolve these issues, refers to a supervisor immediately.

Ensures patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly.

Enters results in the Laboratory Information System either through the use of the interfaces or through manual entry in the order entry function.

Performs routine and advanced maintenance procedures on all instrumentation, which he/she operates, according to schedule and procedure and documents appropriately.

Recognizes instrument and methodological problems and takes steps to resolve them appropriately and independently and assists co-workers with similar issues.

Ensures that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly.

Assists the inpatient units and physicians with EPIC issues relating to the Laboratory.

Completes variance reports for situations requiring supervisory notification and electronic incident reports, when needed.

Maintains records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens
-
Writes and reviews polices and procedures for their resource area and ensures that all sections are appropriate for their site or makes appropriate revisions.

Recruit and consent patients from a variety of NorthShore sites for research study(May require to travel other site)

Perform medical chart review and data entry
-
Collect and deidentified leftover biological samples from clinical laboratory
-
Ship samples to the study reference laboratory
-
Participate in abstract, poster and manuscript preparation
What you will need:
-
Education: Bachelor’s or Associate's degree and the requisite courses to meet CLIA requirements for moderate to high complexity testing.
-
Experience: Four (4) years of experience in a comparable healthcare setting of moderate to high complexity testing beyond POC/Waived testing with an achieved competency level of a Laboratory Associate.

Certification: ASCP Required
