Today, ThriftBooks is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our dynamic team. This position will have an active role in assisting with accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and audits. Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in maintaining accounting policies, and procedures
Able to oversee the production of periodic financial reporting and ensures the results comply with accounting principles and financial reporting standards
Works closely with other departments within the company to ensure that strategic initiatives are achieved
Assist with the development of the annual budget and analyzes actual and budgeted figures on an ongoing basis. Creates and maintains detailed budgeted templates
Must possess strong analytical and strong excel skills
Provides information and assistance to management regarding expenditures, purchases and other costs of doing business
Able to work and manage A/P, A/R, and general accounting department
Performs ad hoc analysis and forecasts for the senior management team
Collaborates with business partners across the region to ensure processes and information lead to accurate financial statements. Influence business partners and collaborate in addressing barriers
Combined 10-15 years experience in both public accounting and private industry
Assistant controllership experience for either a public or privately held company
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision
Audit experience with a National or International accounting firm
Knowledge of and work experience with sales, property and other business taxes.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Working knowledge of ERP accounting systems and software
Experience with major financial software systems required
Strong communication, presentation, analytical and staff development skills required
Significant knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal, state and regulatory accounting and reporting regulations, cost management techniques, and financial analysis required.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Business Administration required
Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
