Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation Planning, Engineering and Statistics or other related field. A minimum of six (6) years extensive, progressive experience in system development, database administration or operation analysis in transportation operation related filed; and experience in performing logistics, schedule building or runcutting work using computerized scheduling application system(s).
Experience in lieu of education will be considered if candidate can progressive demonstrate experience in system development, database administration or operation analysis in transportation operation related field; and experience in performing logistics, schedule building or runcutting work using computerized scheduling application system(s).

This position is responsible for developing bus operation schedules data analysis and schedules analysis tools, conducting bus operation efficiency analysis and effectively coordinating the schedule building activities for the preparation of regular or special bus operation schedules. The incumbent in this position is responsible for overseeing all levels of bus scheduling functions, in terms of following industry best practices and effective utilization of available computer tools for ensuring creation of cost effective schedules, efficient vehicle blocks and driver duty runcuts and weekly rosters. The incumbent creates a balance between quality of schedules, vehicle blocks, driver duty assignments, and management objectives. The employee will be able to review and analyze past and current operational data with an objective of improving future schedules. The employee has extensive latitude for independent judgment and action within general guidelines established by WMATA management. This is a highly technical position responsible for bus service schedule data analysis, schedule efficiency analysis and assist or/and develop bus operation schedules.
Develops and maintains working relations with Bus Transportation District(s) to collect and disseminate information to be used to enhance bus schedules and transportation operational efficiencies.
Reviews quality of schedules by analyzing operational data available in AVL and APC systems, as implemented by WMATA, and provide feedback for improving future schedules.
Extracts relevant scheduling data from the database for assessing and monitoring scheduling quality consistency.
Applies available software applications for conducting schedule efficiency analysis and provide schedule statistical and cost reports.
Maintains good knowledge of scheduling industry best practices as applicable to bus transit operations scheduling.
Keeps up-to-date with new scheduling tools and capabilities as and when they become available by system upgrades. Train schedulers of these new features and capabilities.
Assists management in union negotiations by conducting “what if” analysis with respect to union work rules and other operational practices, and make recommendations.
Assists management by providing relevant analysis and feedback to schedulers for meeting management goals of reducing operational costs without sacrificing quality of service.
