What You'll Do Here:
As a Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence (DWBI) Specialist at Cengage, you will perform data analysis, modeling database improvements, and will crafting high-level technical specifications that meet our DWBI needs. You will join a highly collaborative, multi-functional agile team, and will take ownership of architectural decisions and technical debt for various software components. You will also participate in the development and implementation of the DWBI solutions, be responsible for code reviews, and ensure technical quality of the deliverables. As part of your duties, you will:

Collaborate with product owners and enterprise architects to understand requirements.
Perform data analysis and further research to resolve the best approaches.
Lead and provide technical mentorship for the design and implementation of system solutions and data storage.
Work with full-stack development team to define and implement solutions.
Verify that developed solutions meet the requirements.
Document the data warehouse architecture (both up-front design and post-release as-built), ensuring it meets current and forecasted needs.
Collaborate with multi-functional roles to communicate and align development efforts.
Perform root cause analysis, technology evaluation, and design reviews for continued improvements.
Help to break down, estimate, and provide just-in-time design for small increments of work.
Provide mentorship and help implement industry standards and best practices.
Test-drive clean, quality code, working closely with other Agile team members.
Take ownership of tasks. Helps drive the completion of all kinds of work tasks.

Skills You Will Need Here:
Bachelor degree in Systems Analysis/Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and recent, relevant work experience.
Production experience with a data warehouse environment assembling data from various sources.
Minimum 5 years of experience with RDBMS (preferably Oracle).
Minimum 5 years of experience with a Data Warehouse Extract/Transfer/Load (ETL) tool (preferably Informatica).
Minimum 3 years of experience with a Data Modeling tool.
Experience with BI reporting tools (Cognos, Geckoboard, Tableau, etc.).
Experience with Unix scripting.
Strong familiarity with Logical and Physical Database designs.
Knowledge of and dream to work in an Agile development environment.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong presentation and collaboration skills with ability to communicate all aspects of the process with peers as well as end users.
