As a Hydro-Mechanical Design Engineering Intern at Collins Aerospace you will participate on a team that generates and manages hardware designs for Jet Engines. Parts are design to operate in fluid environments (fuel, oil), and function under hydraulic forces. Designs are done by generating physics based performance models (1D) and verified using CFD. Designs are also analyzed structurally using FEA. Candidate will work within an integrated team that includes Project Engineering, Dynamic Engineering, Systems Engineering, Drafting, and Structures.
Understanding system level schematics
Generating designs to meet requirements
Generating analysis using Excel (with VBA macros) and Matlab
Demonstrate analytical compliance to both customer and internal requirements
Follow and apply standard work and best practices into component design
Create detailed component layouts and drawings
Perform CFD using Star-CCM+
Perform basic FEA using ANSYS Workbench.
Participate in the internal product development teams
Present designs during design reviews
Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field of study from an accredited institution
Must have GPA of 3.0
Must have completed 30 hours of college coursework
US citizenship required
