The Office:
The Office of Equity and Diversity (OED)is responsible for investigating cases of protected-class discrimination or harassment in the university community, and enforcing the university’s anti-harassment and non-discrimination policies. The office also ensures university compliance and best practices in the implementation of other laws, including affirmative action and equal opportunity requirements.

The Position:
Senior Investigator, Equity and Diversity

The Office of Equity and Diversity/Title IX at the University of Southern California (USC) is seeking a Senior Investigator who believes in justice and serving the law to join their growing, high profile team. In this role, you will assess reports of misconduct for protected class issues, form investigative plans, gather evidence including statements, video and documentary evidence, and forensic analysis, determine the need for interim support and protective measures, work collaboratively with campus partners on training, investigations, projects, and initiatives, and interact with a variety of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Assesses, investigates, and resolves discrimination and/or harassment complaints; understands and follows proper protocols for administrative investigations; creates comprehensive written reports
Documents all interviews and meetings with faculty, staff, and/or students, supervisors, managers, and senior administrators; maintains confidential case files
Serves as an expert on equity and diversity matters; provides advice and guidance as well as administrative, educational, and intellectual leadership to faculty, staff, and/or students on discriminatory practices and equal opportunity matters
Stays informed of developments in the field
Participates in the evaluation and ongoing development of university policies and procedures
Delivers training and educational programs to various university communities
Minimum Education

JD from an accredited law school; must have passed a bar exam, however not required to be an active bar member
Minimum Qualifications

3 years of directly related field investigation experience in equity and diversity
Experience working in higher education preferred
Ability to conduct interviews and investigations as an unbiased and neutral party
Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations, and personnel policies and procedures governing discriminatory practices and equal opportunity
Experience developing and presenting educational materials
A fierce writer able to manage the pressure of deadlines, with strong interpersonal, judgment, independence, and prioritization/task management skills
Knowledge of complaint procedures
Demonstrated analytical and/or problem solving capabilities
Minimum Professional Experience

Minimum Education: J.D. Minimum Experience: 3 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related experience in equity and diversity field in an educational institution or large organization. Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations and personnel policies and procedures governing discriminatory practices and equal opportunities. Knowledge of complaint procedures.
