Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)
LOCATION: Onsite at our client. Can be in Greensboro, NC, Fort Wayne, IA, Omaha, NE, or Chicago, IL

We are looking for professional administrators to work onsite and/or remote with very strong internals knowledge, who have experience running databases in production environments and database consulting experience.This position would be an exciting opportunity, for the Oracle Professional that has the right experience, to grow their career and expand their knowledge.

Our company provides 24 X 7 support for our customer’s mission critical database systems, which is possible through our proven model of Tier 3 DBAs in the U.S. and our Tier 2 teams in India. Top 3 Skills:
  • Virtual Private Database
  • TSL/SSL Enterprise experience

Technical Responsibilities:
  • Assess DB health checks (I/O, queries, indexes, etc.)
  • Perform complex issue resolution / correlation
  • Perform advanced database and query tuning
  • Perform root cause analysis on top/recurring issues
  • Perform proactive space / growth management
  • Provide issue tracking and communication
  • Develop HA / DR and scalability strategies
  • Develop backup and recovery improvement strategy
  • Develop clustering and replication strategies
  • Participate in appropriate client IT meetings
  • Serve as escalation for Tier II DBAs
  • Advise and consult on architectural approaches
  • Provide senior DBA support and collaboration
  • Assess / improve database security compliance
  • Advise on DB licensing strategies
  • Dataguard experience a must
  • RAC experience a must
  • Oracle Streams Experience – good but not a requirement
  • Golden Gate – good but not a requirement
  • UNIX experience a must
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 7 years Oracle Database Administration
Client Service Roles:
  • Increase or contribute to customer satisfaction and profitability
  • Prepare, schedule and conduct weekly technical review meetings with each customer
  • Perform proactive database administration for all client databases (ticket monitoring)
  • Provide technical leadership for DBA related projects to internal and external customers
  • Attend client calls to gain experience, understand processes, and start identifying typical client requests, questions, etc.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and prioritize work for less experienced DBAs
  • Must have great communication skills and be able to explain complex Oracle issues/solutions to technical and non-technical people
  • Ability to give recommendations for change
  • Full time on premises, working 9/80s (9 days every 2 weeks, every other Friday off)
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Automate work/jobs were appropriate and engage Support Services DBAs when needed
  • Tracking all of work must be documented in current tracking system.
  • Maintain an awareness of developments in emerging technologies and disciplines relating to present and future products and solutions through personal research, continuing education, seminars, trade shows and other related activities.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
  • Data modeling; normalization
  • Data security, availability, accessibility, persistence, recoverability retention and archival
  • Procedural extensions (PL/SQL, Transact-SQL)
  • Scripting (i.e. Perl, Bat, UNIX and shell)
  • Data access methodologies
  • Performance/ Query tuning
  • Bulk load operations
  • RDBMS (Oracle Required)
  • Comfortable providing Tier IV support Operations
