Front-end or Full-stack Developer - Remote (30+ days ago) is North America’s largest non-profit adoptable-pet search engine. We believes there’s a home for every shelter pet… they just need to be seen by the right person at the right time. By opening a virtual window into every shelter pet’s cage and letting potential adopters peek inside, we help nearly 18,000 animal shelters and rescue organizations find great homes for their pets. is looking for a Front End Web Developer. You'll work closely with the rest of our distributed product and engineering team primarily developing web based software for 4 million potential adopters each month and over 18 thousand animal shelters and rescue organizations.


First and foremost, you have to have the passion and drive to save animal lives. Beyond that you'll need:

Technical must haves:
5+ years experience as front-end or full-stack developer
Expert in HTML5, CSS, SASS, and front-end Javascript
Expert in building responsive applications
Expert with at least one popular JavaScript framework (e.g. React, Backbone, Vue, AngularJS, etc.)
Experience with front-end development tools such as gulp, browserify, babel, etc.
Experience using common engineering tools like GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, etc.
Passion for shipping high quality, clean, tested code with an aim to delight users.
Experience with building scalable and secure applications in a PHP/Laravel environment
Experience with building and/or consuming REST APIs
Understanding of relational database technologies like Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.
Proven track record of accurately translating high/low fidelity mock ups and wireframes with or without specs

General must have:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Results oriented, get it done, no excuses attitude
Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide other team members
Desire to learn new skills and technologies
Great past working relationship with UX and Design teams

Experience with Design and design tools (such as Sketch, Invision, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
Agile/Lean Start-up philosophies
Understanding and implementation of SEO requirements when building web applications
Understanding and implementation of security best practices for web applications
Good design instincts

Education Requirements:
BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
