The Wholesale Compensation and Performance Management consulting team provides strategic compensation consultation and solutions to large, highly complex Wholesale Banking businesses, working with line of business-aligned HR teams as well as other key partners and business leaders. Reporting to the Wholesale Compensation Leader, the Compensation Manager is responsible for providing direction on the strategy, design, communication, support, and compliance of total direct compensation and performance management programs to support line of business strategies. This includes strategic consulting with managers and partner groups regarding current and future needs for processes, forming a strong link between objective setting, performance management, and compensation outcomes.

We are seeking a Compensation Manager to lead a team of consultants responsible for overall support to Wells Fargo Securities and the Investment Portfolio businesses, including the Corporate Banking and Financial Institutions Groups under the collective Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) umbrella. The team is responsible for the development and support of effective and competitive compensation and performance management plans, programs, policies, practices, and controls. The Compensation Manager will partner closely with HR leaders to drive the human capital plan for the businesses in addition to identifying and initiating best practices and process improvements in alignment with business objectives and/or company framework requirements.

This leader role includes managing, coaching, developing, mentoring, and retaining compensation staff to enhance performance and growth, exercising the usual authority of a manager, including the selection and development of staff. This individual will work across line of business compensation and HR team and other HR functions in a matrixed environment to deliver effective compensation and performance management strategies and processes and ensure effective risk management in accordance with internal and regulatory requirements. This includes compensation administration, market pricing, job evaluation, job structure design, performance management, job offer recommendations, retention consultation, pay equity, FLSA, compensation-related projects, process improvement and efficiency initiatives focusing on governance & simplification.

The preferred locations for this job opening are as listed in the job posting (Charlotte, NC; San Francisco, CA; Des Moines, IA; and Minneapolis, MN). However, other locations may be considered for this opportunity.

Accomplish management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented team members, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing and developing team members, identifying and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks

Required Qualifications

2+ years of leadership experience
6+ years of consulting experience in compensation, human resources, accounting, or finance

Desired Qualifications

6+ years of compensation experience
Incentive plan design, implementation, and governance experience, preferably in the financial services industry
Experience with variable and incentive compensation
Knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance requirements surrounding incentive compensation and risk management
Ability to work and influence successfully within a matrix environment and build effective business partnerships with all levels of team members
Experience developing partnerships and collaborating with other business and functional areas
Ability to identify inefficiencies, opportunities to streamline business processes, and implement change
Virtual leadership experience with ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in a geographically dispersed team environment
Ability to drive and lead organizational change in a dynamic environment
Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with senior business leaders to gain commitment to accomplish business goals
Strong project management skills
Outstanding problem solving and decision making skills
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
A BS/BA degree or higher
Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) skills
