The Edmentum Research and Design Team is central to fulfilling our commitment to our national and international educators and learners. As part of the Edmentum Research and Design Team, the Research Scientists on our team will have the opportunity to design, innovate, and conduct rigorous research in instruction, learning, and measurement.

Each Research Scientist on our team must be curious, collaborative, and have a passion to develop and conduct best-in-class research to provide evidence of valid, useful educational solutions that truly meet the needs of learners and educators.

The Sr. Research Scientist will manage and document evidenced-based research studies, collaborate with external researchers, and support documentation and presentations to our external Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). The candidate must be able to interact and communicate clearly with clients and internal staff about technical and practical aspects of research methods and complex psychometric topics. The communication will be in both verbal and written form and contribute to progress in the field of education and research, as well as to deepen the understanding of the impacts and outcomes to internal staff, clients, and the larger education and research community, including developing research briefs, technical documents, and research papers and presentations.

The Sr. Research Scientist will have advanced knowledge of valid educational assessment design and psychometric methodologies, including item development and review practices, scaling, equating, norming, and have deep knowledge of a range measurement topics, approaches and models, including purpose-driven assessment design, Item Response Theory (IRT), Cognitive Diagnostic Models (CDM), and Linear-on-the-fly (LOFT) models, computer adaptive testing (CAT). The preferred candidate will have advanced experience and knowledge with complex item development and evidence based designs, learning progressions, and learning analytics.

Here's what you'll do:
Identify approaches and opportunities to lead and assure Edmentum provides industry-leading, research-based solutions to improve student outcomes.
Develop proejct specifications, conduct and manage all aspects of, and document and communicate findings from research projects and psychometric analyses, maintaining organizational time lines and client-facing activities.
Be able to clearly articulate methodologies for research and psychometrics to TAC members, internal sales and services consultants, and customers; and in support of proposal responses and external presentations.
Identify and develop external research partners and opportunities to conduct independent studies and to build new research opportunities and innovations in instruction, assessment and measurement.

Here's what you'll need:
PhD in Psychometrics, Research and Measurement, Quantitative Psychology, or similar field.
Five years of increasing and independent experience in conducting research and psychometric work.
Considerable experience managing large-scale research, evaluation, and/or assessment programs implementing modern measurement models including IRT, CDM, CAT, or LOFT.
Expertise in research and evaluation methodologies, and/or psychometrics including computer adaptive testing, learning progressions, and validity studies.
Familiarity with R, Winsteps, and/or Python or similar programs on large data sets.
Strong analytical skills, independent, organized, and demonstrated strong verbal and written communication.
Highly collaborative individual who can work well with others across projects and teams.
Track record of increasing contributions to the field of educational research and psychometrics.
Knowledge of educational programs, instructional approaches, and/or testing industry.
