Role Description

Risk & Control helps Deutsche Bank Group Operations & Technology run and change functions proactively to manage the right risks and build and sustain efficient controls.

The team’s aim is in line with that of COO Organization, which includes delivering greater efficiency & operating leverage, fostering client centricity, creating an agile bank and ensure safety & soundness. The Safety and Soundness team’s primary focus is to further strengthen the control environment.

This is a small team that requires both a focus on Lending and Trade Finance Operations and Technology, risk management practices and project management experience to continue to develop and run risk related programs and processes. This includes assisting product lines to be compliant with the existing and new controls, building out dynamic operations risk scoring to drive richer risk profiles, effective remediation design / strategic implementations and continued build out of control architecture.

Role Responsibilities

The responsibilities include partnership with the broader Safety and Soundness teams and product areas to drive:

Risk Program Management - Delivery of key risk remediation programs. These include far reaching efforts across Deutsche Bank Group
Manage the right risk - Improve root cause analysis to ensure that the cause of any identified risk (incident, assessment, audit) is clearly defined. Challenge control remediation plans and implementation designs to ensure they are strategically aligned, smart and reduces risk. Strengthen issue remediation oversight and maintain a forward looking view on remediation health
Build efficient controls - Assess key strategic initiatives to ensure efficient controls are being built and integrated using sustainable technology practices
Focus on delivery of stakeholder value – continued build out of team skills, partnership with other control functions and build professional relationships
Facilitate a regular communication and cooperation with all relevant stakeholders, governance functions and product lines
Partner with key stakeholders to act as mediator and subject matter expert for them on Risk topics
Ensure a common understanding of key risks and their implications for CIB
Experience/ Exposure

The role requires a VP to have significant experience in both Project Management and Risk Management, as follows:

Project Management / Risk experience
Demonstrate understanding and application of program management models
Run broad scale projects across locations and/or products
Solid understanding of risk management principles
Knowledge of IT controls and basic technology (infrastructure, SDLC, cybersecurity, etc.)
Experience in developing and running effective risk governance
Team player with cultural diversity background

Education/ Qualifications:
Educated to Bachelor’s degree level or equivalent qualification/work experience
Risk certifications preferred although not required
Previous relevant experience in the financial services industry
