Position Overview
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Office of the Chancellor is the highest level administrative office on the NCCU campus. This office administers all aspects of the University’s programs in the areas of academic, finance, student, legal and development affairs. The Office of the Chancellor is also the primary contact for the NCCU Board of Trustees, UNC General Administration, the UNC system’s Office of the President, local and state government representatives, and the surrounding communities. As such, the Office of the Chancellor must respond to the concerns, interests, and directives of its many internal and external constituents.

Primary Purpose of Position
This position assists in providing office management and program support to the Office of the Chancellor. While the position continues to serve in the capacity of “gatekeeper’ in its role as office receptionist, it also provides increased administrative support to the Chancellor, Chief of Staff and coordinates with others in varying degrees including those comprising the Chancellor’s executive leadership team (i.e., The executive leadership team is composed of the Chancellor, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement, General Counsel for Legal Affairs, Chief of Staff, Chief Human Resources Officer, Chief Information Officer and the Athletics Director). As a result, the employee in the position requires increased program knowledge with regard to the Chancellor’s Office initiatives, activities, concerns and issues in order to provide optimal customer service.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Provide direct support to the Chancellor in the form of personal tasks, projects, and special assignments.
Assist with developing presentations and reports for senior staff
Scanning, copying, emailing, mailing, and sending documents/packages
Works closely with campus offices as needed and requested by the Chancellor
Excellent customer service, communication and writing skills essential.
Critical detail orientation
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with professionalism, courtesy and tact with all levels of staff and external constituents
Excellent organizational skills for maintaining computerized and manual record-keeping systems.
Ability to independently prioritize workload; work efficiently and calmly under pressure with tight deadlines and conflicting priorities.
Analytical and problem solving skills
Must have strong working knowledge of MS Office
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience
High School Diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation
