Junior Research Scientist
Full-time
The Thomsen Laboratory of Molecular Pathobiology at New York University seeks to recruit a highly-motivated Junior Research Scientist. The position involves assisting in the development and characterization of a new class of pharmacological compounds that targets G-protein coupled receptors. Previous research experience with pharmacological characterization of compounds/receptor constructs using cell-based assays is desired. In addition, the ideal candidate should be familiar with basic molecular and cell biological techniques. The candidate will receive training, a competitive research experience, and will benefit from a highly diverse and inclusive atmosphere in a world-class scientific environment.
Principal Responsibilities Include:
- General lab management, including preparing and ordering reagents, maintaining laboratory inventories and equipment.
- Optimizing and performing cell-based assays.
- Characterizing pharmacological properties of small molecule compounds and different receptor constructs.
- Analysis and reporting of pharmacological data.
- Molecular biology, including preparation of DNA/RNA as well as proteins for western blotting.
- Cell biology, including maintaining and transfection of cell cultures.
- Assist lab members in performing experiments.
As the lab is devoted to provide a diverse and inclusive environment, individuals from racial and ethnic backgrounds that historically have been underrepresented in sciences in the US are encouraged to apply.
NYU offers an excellent benefits package. Salary and rank will be commensurate with credentials and experience.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
