Securities FinTech Analyst/Examiner
Hiring Salary: $4,366 - $5,266 / month
Location: Bismarck or Fargo

Summary of Work
The Securities Department serves North Dakota investors and regulates the investment industry and capital formation process. The position conducts financial technology driven analysis, examinations, and investigations, of securities related activities to ensure and enforce compliance with the laws, rules and regulations governing the offer and sale of investment securities and advice by Issuers, Broker-Dealers, and Investment Advisers under close supervision. The position also conducts analysis and investigations of unregistered securities activity and investment fraud.
Work schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with some evenings and weekend work. Occasional overnight travel required.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, criminal justice, computer science, information technology, computer information systems, or a related field and three years of professional-level work experience in accounting, auditing, financial services, economics, law, financial technology, cyber security, distributed ledger technology or investigations. A bachelor’s degree is considered to be related if, by a review of official transcripts, it is determined that the coursework is similar to that of the degrees listed above.
If unable to find qualified candidates at the FinTech Securities Examiner level, the agency may consider underfilling the position as a Securities Examiner/Investigator I. The minimum qualifications require a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, criminal justice, computer science, information technology, computer information systems, or a related field. A bachelor’s degree is considered to be related if, by a review of official transcripts, it is determined that the coursework is similar to that of the degrees listed above. Salary Range: $3,657 - $4,557/month.
Work experience in the financial services industry or for a financial regulator.
Work experience or coursework involving examining or audit-related duties.
Work experience or coursework with business related writing, including report writing.
Experience creating, editing, and managing website content.
Work experience or course work related to distributed ledger technology.
Work experience or course work related to cyber security.
Experience using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Education, training, or knowledge related to investment products (stocks, bonds, mutual funds), investment services, and financial technology applications.
