Summary of Position
The Registered Pharmacy Technician Performs a variety of medication recording and preparation tasks, as well as other duties in support of pharmacy operations. Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and company policies and procedures. Must possess Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration.
Works under the direct supervision of the pharmacist. Enters accurate prescription data into automated pharmacy dispensing system. Assists patients with pick-up of medications, and provides courteous and professional customer service. Processes and records payments accurately. Works well with others and collaborates for overall success of department and organization.
Education: Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician program, or equivalent institutional/retail pharmacy experience. Must currently be licensed as a Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Massachusetts without restrictions from the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy.
Skills and Experience: Must possess working knowledge of pharmacy operations and cash handling experience. Requires knowledge of laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice and patient confidentiality. Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills are preferred. Must be team oriented and demonstrate excellent patient service skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and strong interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and colleagues. Sound judgment with the ability to work and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. Must be at least 18 years of age. Minimum 1 year experience in a retail/institutional pharmacy setting preferred.
