Summary

The Technical Designer collaborates with Account Managers, Design Lead, Sales Teams and clients to design and perform successful projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Including but not limited to:

  • Space Planning and test fits for furniture layouts
  • Electrical placement based on furniture layouts and room types
  • Occupancy Counts
  • Workstation and Building Rom Numbering Plans
  • Maintain current AutoCAD backgrounds and update as needed
  • Attend internal meetings with account team
  • Work with account teams to develop a clear understanding of what is required for each project
  • Provide accurate estimate of design hours required for a specified scope of work
  • Program, Space Plan and Manage large complex clients with multiple locations
  • Provide complete drawings and detailed furniture plans-from block plans, to typical development through installation documents
  • Perform on-site architectural field verifications and update AutoCAD floor plans as needed
  • Ensure furniture is placed as shown on plans, including soft seating, vacant desks, lateral storage, etc.
  • Follow all formats for graphic standards as provided by Design Manager and Design Team Standards
  • Perform specification checking and assist Design team with double-checks for projects within department
  • Review shop drawings from vendors to insure correct integration within project space and adherence to design intent prior to client review and approval

Qualifications

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Proficient on AutoCAD 2015 or above
  • Ability to understand current planning codes
  • Ability to interpret floor plans
  • Proficient with MS Office- Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and a team player attitude
  • Ability to multi-task and manage workload to achieve project deliverable deadlines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external clients
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and hold internal project meetings
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumferences and volume
  • Must be able to scale and calculate distances on plans
  • Must be able to solve practical problems
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and prioritize a large scope of information

Experience/Education Required

  • AutoCAD Certificate or Training, min of 2 years (must be proficient on AutoCAD 2105 or above)
  • Administrative background – 2 + years
  • Space Planning experience preferred
