The Product Manager will work within a small team to creatively balance the needs of sales, the field and the mills while seeking to maximize profitability through the economic cycle for a given product(s) line. The Product Manager will be a champion, ambassador and subject matter expert for the technology and product lines assigned. Product line responsibility will likely include two product lines of: I-Joist, LVL, OSB, LSL and PSL
The Product Managers report to the Director of Strategic Marketing for Wood Products and the position is based in Seattle, WA.
Establish and implement Product line strategy(s), including actionable goals, which align with business long-term strategy
Recommend and inform business strategy
Manage accounts to keep mill order files full as needed
Analyze and summarize market and sales data, collected feedback and input into useful, actionable information for sales/field/mills
Develop, maintain alignment across mill operations and sales teams on product line strategy and goals to meet customer needs and product field performance through education, communication and participation
Identify, develop and execute methods to constantly enrich the product portfolio and achieve product line goals by mill by applying creative teaming solutions to achieve success
Manage demand signal variance to plan – work collaboratively across business lines to align short and long-term variances
Inform Marketing Director in strategic needs within the business including annual planning
Fully understand and communicate the financial implications to the business of each product
Monitor and understand competitive offerings to inform product development and market positioning
Inform or participate in project management as needed
New Product Development
Four-year undergraduate degree
3+ years of wood products sales, marketing or manufacturing experience
This position will require travel throughout North America of up to 30% of the time with visits of up to one week in duration
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Strong presentation skills
Comfortable in the use and analysis of data including costing, pricing, financial performance and market data.
Proven ability to think innovatively and solve complex problems
Proven level of comfort with financial and data analysis with Excel
Demonstrated success working with multiple stakeholders and leading cross functional groups
