About IBEW-NECA Benefits Administration Association:
IBEW-NECA is an employee benefits administration office providing high quality services to the 33,000 individuals we serve. Located in Decatur, Illinois, the Association administers the NECA-IBEW Welfare Trust Fund (Welfare Trust Fund), the NECA-IBEW Pension Trust Fund (Pension Trust Fund), and the IBEW-NECA Conduit 401(k) Plan (401(k) Plan) jointly with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). The Welfare Trust Fund provides health care (health insurance) benefits to plan participants. The Pension Trust Fund provides pension (retirement) benefits to plan participants. The 401(k) Plan provides 401(k) defined contribution pension benefits to plan participants. The Association has about 40 employees who administer customer service, claims, employer reporting and contribution remittances, health care and pension benefits, among various other services.

Position Summary:
We are looking for a responsible Accountant with a strong background in GL accounting to perform a variety of tasks, including AP/AR, payroll and tax payments, investment tracking, multi-state income reporting, and processing and running numerous reports within various software and web portals. Other duties involved with this Accountant role include providing support to management and external auditors, preparation of accounting records, and training under management and other accounting department personnel. The ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to organize their work using current technologies. Ultimately, a successful Accountant filling this position should ensure efficient and smooth day-to-day operation relative to our organizations’ accounting. Responsibilities:

- Recording accounting entries, applying accrual accounting principles
- Filing applicable taxes and related payments so all requirements are met, while avoiding errors
- Conducting account reconciliations
- Communicating with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner
- Developing and maintaining a filing and record retention system
- Assisting with maintenance of office policies and procedures
- Processing payroll in an accurate and timely manner in a backup role, when required

Skills, Qualifications, and Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in an accounting-related program is preferred. A minimum of three years of relevant, demonstrated experience performing accounting functions is generally required; training will be necessary and will be provided at IBEW-NECA’s time and expense
- Proficiency in GAAP and regulatory standards
- Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
- Working knowledge of office equipment, like phones, copiers, scanners, and printers
- High proficiency in personal computer operation, including typing and data entry, MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, in particular), and virtual meeting platforms

Physical/Environmental Demands:
- Standard office environment with some unique physical demands, including setting up meeting spaces. Must be able to stand on a stool or ladder and lift boxes of files, as necessary.

Pay: $56,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
