Role and Responsibilities
Act as primary caretaker for all animals on property and oversee animal husbandry program
Primary handler and caretaker for all horses on property
Work closely with clients and facilitate animal-assisted groups
Clean equipment and the living spaces of animals
Monitor animals and record details of their diet, physical condition, and behavior
Bathe animals, trim nails, clip hair, and attend to other grooming needs
Operate vehicles, small equipment and tools, and tractors as needed
Work closely with groundskeeper and assist in duties as needed
Perform other duties as required and assigned
Maintain complete confidentiality Qualifications and Education Requirements
This person must be 21 years or older
High school diploma or equivalent
Personal and/or professional experience in handling and caring for horses
Animal care experience to include livestock
Knowledge of animal and livestock health and care
Additional education, training, and/or certification(s) strongly preferred.
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Ability to work in all types of weather, including extreme heat and cold, with fluctuations in temperature and conditions. work environment may include exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, animal hair/feathers, chemicals, and other particles.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, write, bend, climb, stand, stoop, engage in repetitive motion, and lift heavy items. Must be able to list/pull/push up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Full range of motion to be able to interact with animals and provide care/treatment.
Position Type/Expected Work Hours
This is a full time position. Days and hours of work are variable and will include nights and weekends.
Some travel may be required.
