Position Description
Looking for a strong plumbing estimator. The Estimator for Mechanical Operations will prepare portions of contract proposal estimates for multi-disciplines (sheet metal, piping and plumbing). He/she will perform take-offs on systems, material and equipment according to applicable project plans and specifications, and/or per supervisor s instructions.

Specific Responsibilities:
Interpret project specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Attend pre-bid meetings and/or tour job sites to confirm requisite take-offs.
Prepare estimates by calculating complete take-off of scope of work using QuickPen and EST-MEP estimating software.
Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including information on pricing from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, software uploads, etc.
Support other department personnel as required; may include preparing estimates in other disciplines.
Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
Interpret or utilize design completion when drawing or design is incomplete. Seek assistance from in-house engineers when required.
Provide support to field operations regarding mechanical and plumbing estimates.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of 2 years estimating construction projects including HVAC, Plumbing, Hydronic piping systems or med gas systems
Proficient with QuickPen, EST-MEP or similar estimating software
Working knowledge of all three disciplines, estimating techniques and cost control
Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems
Ability to perform detailed work and successfully meet deadlines
High school degree or equivalent; some technical training or advanced relevant education preferred. Must be knowledgeable of commercial Plumbing/Piping, HVAC systems
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel software
