SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Collaborate with teachers and other Hale staff facilitators that implement programs that equitably reimagine learning.
a. Develop strong working relationship with classroom teachers based on support, accountability, and open-mindedness.
b. Brainstorm and implement unique opportunities to enhance teaching and learning including activities, discussion questions, and resources.
c. Develop and teach lessons around core objectives (science, nature, movement, and community) that support the work of the teachers and enhance the curriculum.
d. Assist in planning and the execution of outdoor-oriented activities including walks, hikes, challenge course, etc.
2. To serve as a lead outdoor learning guide for student groups at Hale and in Boston.
a. Facilitate the formation of a positive, supportive, and collaborative group dynamic among students.
b. Help facilitate learning about outdoor environments, environmental justice, and equitable outdoor spaces.
3. Cultivate strong sense of community through culturally- responsive team-building activities, and deepened reflection and discussion.
a. Facilitate intentional and culturally responsive team-building initiatives and environmental activities, including reflection and discussions.
b. Collaborate with students and teachers to develop norms and traditions that will cultivate strong sense of community.
4. Support individual students through reimagined Learning opportunities with mentorship.
a. Talk with students about their lives, histories, and passions to develop a deeper understanding of their identities and passions.
b. Work with students to develop meaningful and personal goals and keep them accountable to those goals with support.
c. Share opportunities that might interest students about outdoor education, environmental science, environmental justice, etc.
d. Develop leadership and job skills for teens that support their future work on behalf of nature, the outdoors, and equity.
5. Support overall logistics and administration of program(s).
a. Assist with management and cleaning of equipment including outdoor gear, team-building props, and facilities.
b. Assist teacher with planning and ideas for activities as well as set-up and take down of activities.
c. Attend all trainings and planning sessions.
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary, Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
