Reporting to the Accounting Manager, Philanthropic Asset Services, the Staff Accountant will work in collaboration with other members of the team to ensure the proper and timely operations of the Donor Advised Program as well as other programs within PAS. The Staff Accountant will assist in the processing of the weekly check run, as well as process contributions and other additions to the program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Weekly check run

Reviews grants entered online by donors: ensure balance is sufficient ? if not, ensure a staff person contacts the donor; data is entered in correct fields; check for spelling and grammar; grant is attached to a grantee from the PAS database; if new organization, ensure research is done on a timely manner.

Processes all grants received by donors in other means (mail, fax, email)

Approves divestment instructions.

Update Check log as needed

Prepare information about rejected grants for the Committee on Development

Follow up on outstanding checks

Other distributions

Review and approve CGA payments, via checks or ACH

Review and approve CRT payments, via checks or ACH

Process all other grants for Endowment and funds managed for others

Contributions and other additions

Process all additions. These can arrive by check, wire or ACH. Ensure donor?s requests for allocations are met and funds move to the investment bank in a timely manner.

General

Assist the Accounts Payable team with processing weekly check run

Monitor the PAS email addresses and ensure that team members respond to inquiries and requests.

Provide administrative support: Filing, copying checks, running reports, etc.

Opens, sorts and acts on daily mail.

Reconcile and reconciles previous week?s activity in the program?s clearing account to ensure all transactions are properly recorded in the supporting spreadsheets.

Support year end audit process; primarily through account reconciliation and preparing PBC support.

Review tickler file and distribute content to relevant person for follow-up.

Performs other duties as required or assigned by supervisor. Education:

BA/BS in accounting, economics, business administration, finance or other quantitative major (e.g., sciences)

Experience:
1-2 years of related general accounting experience

Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes and shifting priorities.
