Job Title: Level 1 Mechanic

Reports To: Lead Mechanic/Service Manager

**SUMMARY**
The Level 1 Mechanic is an entry-level position within the Service Department, responsible for performing basic maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment. This role is pivotal in ensuring the functionality and safety of vehicles through routine inspections and servicing.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
- Perform basic repairs on brakes, exhaust systems, and suspension components.
- Assist senior mechanics in diagnosing vehicle issues and recommending appropriate solutions.
- Follow service manuals and instructions to execute repairs accurately and efficiently.
- Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify any potential problems or safety concerns.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and tools.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times.
- Assist with other tasks and projects within the Service Department as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of a vocational or technical training program in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred.
- Basic understanding of automotive systems and components.
- Hands-on experience with basic mechanical tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Willingness to learn and develop mechanical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects as required.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift heavy objects.
- Capable of working in various weather conditions and environments.
- Manual dexterity and coordination for operating tools and equipment.
**WORK ENVIRONMENT**
- The work environment for this position may include exposure to loud noises, fumes, and hazardous materials typical of automotive repair facilities.
