Huntsman’s Advanced Materials Division is now searching for a Kettle Operator for our plant located in Harrison City, PA.
As the Kettle Operator, you will:
Recognize hazards and take action to remediate them.
Understand and follow all plant safety rules.
Participate in PHA’s and other safety events as required.
Ability to read and understand all documents related to the raw materials including HMIS and HAZCOM.
Must be able to label waste streams properly.
Set up and be able to execute line breaks, vessel entry, and LTT.
Ability to clean the plant and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Understand Utility Systems- boilers and steam, chilled water, nitrogen, compressed air.
Understand basic plant unit operations.
Understand and execute cleaning procedures.
Must be able to understand and use the plant DCS system.
Complete simple repairs to equipment.
Has a basic understanding of piping and is able to trace lines.
Read and understand P&ID drawings.
Correctly records and assesses all numbers added to records including batch tickets, checklists and inspection forms.
Able to correctly label and handle all waste streams.
Performs all duties with the goal of making products that meets customer specifications.
Actively looks for improvements and involves the needed personnel to see to completion.
Ability to read and understand written instructions.
Ability to read gauges and record information in a timely and accurate manner.
Ability to understand and execute batch tickets.
Ability to verbally give and receive information.
Skills and experiences required:
High School Diploma/GED and prefer additional educational experiences.
Two years prior experience working in a chemical plant or similar environment.
Must be extremely safety oriented.
Effective written and verbal communications skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are critical.
Ability to read, comprehend and complete reports and documents as required.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
Possess/demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn skills and knowledge of chemistry and math to fulfill duties of this position.
Physical ability to climb and work from stairs, ladders, and tank wagon access.
Position requires long periods of standing, walking, bending, lifting, stretching, turning valves, and moving portable equipment such as pumps, filters, hoses, and pallets.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed regularly to outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to elevated places.
The ability to work safely with chemicals is also a requirement.
Lifting in excess of 55 lbs., frequent standing, standing and twisting, walking, climbing stair and ladders, pushing/pulling, overhead and horizontal reaching, bending, squatting, kneeling, grasping, forceful gripping/pinching.
Must be able to work a 8 hour shift and be open to any shift.
