- Hiring Rate: Grade D $26.16/hr
The Town of Clinton Collector Treasurer’s Office is seeking a full-time Assistant Treasurer Collector who will assist with the daily operations of the office. Under the direction of the Treasurer/Collector, this position focuses on skilled bookkeeping, accounting, recordkeeping, clerical and administrative work in cash management, and the collection of taxes, and will assist with the employee benefits and payroll functions for the Town.
The Assistant Town Treasurer/Collector must have the ability to competently and consistently perform essential job duties, including, but not limited to, the following:
· Prepare payroll for all Town departments;
· Prepare a variety of reports related to payroll.
· Assist in enrollment of employees in health, dental and life insurance plans and retirement systems.
· Receive, record and balance cash receipts;
· Receive, processes and prove cash received from other town departments;
· Prepare bank deposits;
· Assist Treasurer-Collector in budget preparation and in compiling information for generating various Town reports;
· Receive payments for real estate, personal property, motor vehicle excise tax and water/sewer fees and record payments into system.
· Balance daily receipts in accordance with State laws.
· Interact and respond to inquiries from staff and the general public, as appropriate;
· Compose, type, and edit a variety of correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness.
· Perform some general clerical duties, such as answering the phone, opening and delivering mail, and filing.
· Work on special projects, as necessary.
· Perform similar or related work, as required.
Education and Experience: Associate's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field; Three (3) years of experience in a responsible position involving payroll, bookkeeping, accounting, financial management, and treasury functions; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
