Overview
The Commissioning Technical Specialist provides expertise and develops solutions to electrical and mechanical technical problems during the planning, installation, and final testing phases of an automated material handling project.

Responsibilities
Manages daily activities of on-site checkout/testing phases for conveyor systems, automated and semi-automated material handling systems, static and dynamic storage systems, robotic modules, and software integration
Audits activities and develops punch lists of electrical/mechanical contractors during and at close out of installation; develops electrical/mechanical check lists for on-site installation progression and pre-volume testing phases
Inspects electrical/mechanical installation to ensure that equipment and parts are complete and operational according to engineering plans
Plans and executes on-site checkout and testing after controls implementation in preparation for turnover to customer; ensures systems are fully functional and meet project scope
Prepares and distributes daily site reports and other documentation during on site execution
Creates a “lessons learned” summary report of project successes and challenges and recommending commissioning process changes
Ensures on-going communication with the internal project team throughout commissioning
Inspects and tests implementation of Programmable Logic Controllers to ensure automated equipment meets project scope requirements; programs, tests, and adjusts PLCs as needed
Collaborates with Team Leader to ensure project cost and schedule requirements are me; recommends changes to reduce costs and work duplication
Provide customer training support if needed
Travels up to 85%, with occasional extended travel up to 3 weeks at a time
Qualifications
Combination of training and experience providing required knowledge, skills and abilities, such as Associate’s degree in a mechanical, electrical, or related field with minimum of 5 years of experience in an automated material handling environment
Experience with industrial electrical installation and start-up
Experience with Allen-Bradley controls/controllers
Experience with industrial HMI and SCADA systems and Siemens, Omron, and Schneider PLCs a plus
Ability to interpret systems’ functional capabilities from operational descriptions, electrical/mechanical drawings, system layouts and schematics
Ability to program, troubleshoot, and adjust PLC programs
Knowledge of AGC Log file analysis
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles of industrial automation
Knowledge of safe industrial work practices including Lockout-Tagout and OSHA 10
Ability to learn new technologies
Computer skills including MS Office; proficient with Excel and Word
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines

Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated and detail oriented
