The Primary Activities Of The Tooling Manager Include:
Coordinate employee activities on all shifts.
Plans and administers personnel for optimal production.
Works with Program Managers, Product Engineers and Quality Manager to ensure stamping dies produce parts that consistently meet all customer requirements.
Responsible for timely PPAP run-offs and support of new product launches.
Participate in all initial, intermediate and final design reviews.
Ensure all perishable tooling component minimum quantities are maintained on production tooling at all times.
Manage the design and manufacture of replacement details for production and service tooling.
Develop, implement and insure adherence to Tool Preventative Maintenance System.
Perform or support in press repairs as needed.
Ensures all maintenance or repair records of stamping dies are up to date as required.
Insure a safe, clean working environment ensuring 5-S standards are followed.
Occasional other duties as assigned by General Manager.
Responsibilities include promoting a positive work environment that generates teamwork.
Review tooling conditions in regards to “ Service Die Inspection” process.
Responsible for managing tool refurbishment’s, engineering changes regarding production tooling.
Responsible for implementing continuous improvements involving measures to improve tooling performance, and part capability.
Confers with other departmental managers, engineers, staff, and/or supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments concerning the repairs/ maintenance, process improvements, part quality characteristics improvements, involving tooling needed to meet production and quality requirements.
Responsible for the accuracy and completion of time and work records, involving assigned duties.
Interprets and communicates part specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers.
Responsible for initiating the requisitioning of needed materials, tooling, equipment, and personnel required to perform jobs assigned in supporting production requirements.
Participation in the Layered Process Audit schedule.
Leads individual and team meetings;
Participation in internal and external audits regarding or related to ISO 9001/IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, IATF 16949 regulatory Requirements.
Ensure safety rules and PPE being adhered to;

Qualified Candidates Will Possess The Following Minimum Requirements :

High school diploma or GED.

Formal Journeyman Tool & Die training, preferred.
Experience in Tool & Die trade, specifically making, repairing, setting up, trouble-shooting, and running progressive stamping dies.
10+ years of experience in the Tool & Die trade
3 to 5 years of experience in management, with strong leadership skills.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and AutoCad 2D and Solidworks 3D CAD data files in respect to die design.
Familiar with all tool room equipment, machinery and procedures. Knowledge of types of raw metal materials and their respective applications, such as heat treating and appropriate coatings.
Ability to manage projects and resources effectively, including detailed documentation on tooling issues and component prints.
Excellent problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
