The Future Talent Program features internships that last up to 12 weeks and will include one or more projects. These opportunities can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.
The Intellectual Property team is within the Office of General Counsel organization. The Office of General Counsel is responsible for helping our company succeed in a manner that is responsible and consistent with the company’s values and high ethical standards, complies with the law, and protects and enhances our reputation and other assets. Intellectual property protection has been a crucial incentive for scientific discovery that has brought forth vitally important medicines in use today.
One internship position is available in 2020 in the Intellectual Property group based at our Rahway, NJ site. During your internship appointment you will work closely with experienced IP attorneys on a research project with key tasks that may include the following:
Students will participate in filing and prosecution of patent application(s) before the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).
Students will assist in case management and attorney dockets.
The relationship of this work to the intellectual property and drug development processes employed by the pharmaceutical industry will be explored with exposure to different functional areas within the Company.
Students will analyze patent filing strategies in relation to recent regulatory developments and combination products.
Undergraduate, Masters, or PhD graduate with a degree in a science or engineering field
At least a 3.0 cumulative undergraduate, masters, or PhD GPA
Full-time law student pursuing a J.D. degree from an accredited law school
Available for 10-12 week internship
1L or 2L law student
Returning to school in Fall 2020
Strong understanding of pharmaceutical industry
Strong interest in IP law in the pharmaceutical industry
Strong interest in taking the USPTO patent bar exam
Strong personal character and ethics
Superior communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent academic achievement and analytical ability
Team player with ability to work independently
A letter of reference from a professor is highly recommended; you may attach it in the same section of the profile as your resume.
For the 2020 program, students who accept the internship positions are responsible for housing costs.
